Operating Principle

The NG800 Ultrasonic Flow Meter operates using the transit-time ultrasonic measurement principle.

Two ultrasonic transducers are mounted on the outside of the pipeline.

• Probe 1 transmits ultrasonic pulses that are received by Probe 2.
• Probe 2 simultaneously transmits ultrasonic pulses that are received by Probe 1.

When liquid flows through the pipe:

• The ultrasonic signal traveling with the flow reaches the receiving probe faster.
• The signal traveling against the flow requires a longer transmission time.

Although both signals travel the same distance, their propagation times differ due to the fluid velocity.
